Over a week after the murder of ANC ward councillor Sbonelo Ntshangase and his friends, Sandile Khumalo and Sizwe Mbingo, Mpumalanga police nabbed a fifth suspect.
The suspect faces three murder, attempted murder, and firearm theft charges before the Piet Retief magistrate’s court on Wednesday.
On January 13, Mkhondo police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala claimed the victims were shot. Mohlala said the accused shot Mr. Ntshangase in the yard and Mr. Mbingo in a bakkie.
“Sadly [Mr Mbingo] died at the scene while Mr Khumalo was shot in the yard. The suspects then fled.”
Two additional suspects appeared in court on Monday and had their case postponed to January 30. They were arrested.
